President

Mario Martínez

Mario Martínez has been a farm worker rights lawyer since 1999 when he began working with the United Farm Workers of America (“UFW”) after being awarded a two year post-graduate fellowship from Equal Justice Works. In 2015, Mario joined Edgar Aguilasocho and Tom Lynch in forming Martinez Aguilasocho Law, Inc. (formerly Martinez Aguilasocho & Lynch, A Professional Law Corporation) ("MAL").  Mario has a unique appreciation for the work performed by our clients, as he comes from a family of farmworkers and himself labored in the grape fields of Southern California as a child.

In his many years working with UFW and MAL, Mario has engaged in the representation of low-income farm workers and other low-income wage earners in complex class actions in state and federal courts in California.  Mario has represented low wage earners in some capacity in virtually every agricultural industry in California, as well as in Florida, Washington, Oregon, and other states, including representing workers performing work in the following agricultural industries: table grape, wine grape, strawberry, raspberry, mushroom, citrus, tree fruit, flower, apple, artichoke, lettuce, broccoli, and other vegetables.  Mario currently serves as General Counsel for the UFW.

Mario graduated from UC Berkeley School of Law and has been a licensed California attorney since 1999.  Mario is admitted to the United States District Courts in the Central, Eastern, Southern, and Northern Districts of California, and to the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

After law school, Edgar moved to the San Joaquín Valley to work as a staff attorney for the United Farm Workers of America (“UFW”). As a staff attorney for the United Farm Workers, Edgar served as lead trial counsel for the UFW in Gerawan Farming, Inc. (formerly Martínez Aguilasocho & Lynch), a private, public interest law firm based in California's Central Valley and dedicated to the mission of improving the lives of farm workers and their families. At MAL, Edgar primarily litigates labor matters, wage and hour class actions, and other workers’ rights cases. Edgar is also the General Counsel for the UFW Foundation.

Edgar is a graduate of the UC Irvine School of Law. Edgar has been a licensed California attorney since 2012, a licensed Washington attorney since 2020, and is admitted to the United States District Courts in the Central, Eastern, and Northern Districts of California, and to the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
